Meet Melissa, our Holiday Soirée Client Ambassador

Holiday Soirée brings us together to shop, sip, and celebrate.

But also to listen.

This year, our Client Ambassador, Melissa C. will share her story, reminding us that every ticket, bid, and share helps empower women to achieve economic independence.

Born in Mexico, Melissa holds a degree in Biology and a Master of Science in collaboration with Spain. She is also a single mom and survivor of domestic violence. Melissa first came to Dress for Success in 2023 after losing everything. Her husband fell into drugs, and for the safety of her family, she left her home for a shelter.

“I had no job and no confidence in myself,” she shared.

However, a friend recommended she try the Career Wardrobe program at Dress for Success San Francisco.

The experience gave her more security and confidence and through Career Coaching, Melissa was able to get help creating a resume and preparing for interviews.

Today, Melissa is Managing Administrator of Home Support and Companionship, a cooperative dedicated to caring for the elderly in San Francisco in collaboration with Dolores Street Community Services. Her advocacy work with the cooperative also took her to Washington D.C.

“I always share my story because I want more women to join Dress for Success, experience the same support I did, and move forward with confidence. Through this program, I found not only mentors who guided me, but also a powerful sisterhood of friends who continue to inspire and support me on my journey.”
