Leveling Up: How Career Coaching Helped Kay Refocus Her Job Search

This Black History Month, we’re honored to spotlight Kay, a Human Resources professional who reconnected with Dress for Success through a Youth Resources Fair.

Support Doesn’t Always Mean Starting Over. Sometimes It Means Leveling Up.

Kay first worked with Dress for Success San Francisco/San Jose in 2012. Years later, while navigating unemployment and reassessing her career goals, she was reintroduced to our programs and services.

“I learned that Dress for Success does not only provide clothing for returning to work, but offer career coaching as well as other tools to help me be more successful in my job search.”

As an experienced HR professional, Kay wasn’t starting from scratch. She was seeking clarity and alignment. Through virtual career coaching, she is refining how she approaches her search.

“The career coaching that I am receiving from Dress for Success is teaching me to look for opportunities based on my goals, skill set, and experience — not just the title.”

In addition to career coaching, Kay has participated in our Career Wardrobe program and participated in Project Premium.

Kay’s story reflects the range of support available through Dress for Success. Whether a woman is reentering the workforce or repositioning herself for her next opportunity, our programs are designed to meet her where she is and help her move forward with confidence.
