Celebrating Success: Highlights from the 2025 Disco Ball

Mayor Daniel Lurie, Sharyn Bires, and Chip Zecher

On Saturday, May 3, more than 300 supporters gathered at Terra Gallery in San Francisco for the first-ever Disco Ball, a reimagined gala experience from Dress for Success San Francisco. The evening shimmered with glamor, inspiration, and deep community connection—raising over $350,000 to support women on their path to economic independence.

Guests arrived in Studio 54 glam and futuristic sparkle, greeted by roller-skating disco ball performers and welcomed into a vibrant atmosphere full of joy, purpose, and possibility. The event was produced and designed by Nicole Villa Krassner, who transformed the space into a dazzling, immersive celebration.

Stories That Inspired

The heart of the night came from two extraordinary Client Ambassadors, Juthaporn Chaloeicheep and Alicia Quick, who shared their personal stories of transformation. Both women overcame tremendous challenges—including addiction, homelessness, and systemic barriers—and found confidence, employment, and community through the support of Dress for Success. Alicia, now a workforce development professional and graduate student, captured the moment best when she said:

“Now I’m bringing the light—like a little disco ball—for women facing the same challenges I once did.”

Honoring Those Who Lead with Purpose

The evening also honored three standout community leaders—Brenda Wright, Chip Zecher, and Mary Jung—with Success Honoree recognition, presented by Mayor Daniel Lurie. Former Mayor Willie L. Brown Jr. made a surprise appearance to introduce honoree Mary Jung, earning a standing ovation.

A new tradition was born with the presentation of the inaugural Anne Cochran Sutton Award, introduced by its namesake and 2024 honoree. Anne presented the award to Brenda Wright, celebrating her decades of leadership in diversity, civic service, and mentoring.

“This award is about recognizing women who not only lead—but lead with purpose,” Sutton shared. “Who open doors, elevate others, and build communities rooted in equity and opportunity.”

Sights, Sounds & Flavors of the Evening

Guests enjoyed wines from Wente Family Vineyards, a non-alcoholic bar by Abstinence Spirits, and handcrafted cocktails featuring Roku Gin and Basil Hayden Bourbon. The Caviar Co. delighted guests during the reception, while dinner was catered by McCalls Catering.

Entertainment included WHIT the DJ spinning disco favorites and faux casino games hosted by Full House Games. Acclaimed auctioneer Dia Bondi donated her time to lead the live auction, and attendees received a copy of her book, Ask Like an Auctioneer, as a special gift.

Looking Ahead

“The Disco Ball isn’t just a party,” said Executive Director Erin C. Badillo, “it’s a reflection of what’s possible when women are supported and seen. When you show up for Dress for Success, you’re showing up for women, their families, and the future of our community.”

With 19 years of service and over 18,000 women served across San Francisco and San Jose, Dress for Success continues to provide free career clothing, coaching, and community to help women find meaningful employment at a livable wage.

We’re still dancing from the energy of the evening—and we can’t wait to see you at the next one.
