June 1-July 25 - Pause on Clothing Donations.

Our San Francisco office will be temporarily closed this summer. This closure is part of a much-needed refresh after more than 15 years in our current space. We are excited to update our facilities and continue to provide a welcoming and supportive environment for the incredible women we serve.

  • Clothing Donations - on pause June 1-July 25

    • We cannot accepting any clothing donations from June 1-July 25. This includes Corporate Drive Drop Offs.

    • We know how much our community values the opportunity to contribute, and we will gladly resume accepting clothing donations once we reopen.

    • We are aiming to host a 2-day clothing drive on Friday July 26 and Saturday July 27 if the office refresh is complete. Sign up link will be posted at the bottom of this page.

    Donations During The Pause

    • While we cannot accept clothing donations at this time, we would greatly appreciate your continued support through financial contributions. Your donations are crucial in helping us reopen the Career Wardrobe in August, fully stocked and ready to empower more women on their journey to success.

    • In addition, you can donate items to the Community Thrift Store and note “Dress for Success San Francisco” as your preferred charity. If the items sell, we will get a small financial donation.

What would you wear to a job interview?

That is exactly the type of clothing we are looking for to distribute to our clients. Your professional apparel could furnish another woman with the confidence to enter or return to the workplace, make a great first impression and land a job that could change her life.

Additionally, many of our clients go directly to an interview, so please ensure that all items donated are laundered/clean, not more than 5 years old, and suitable for wearing to job interviews and for work.

Guidelines for Donating Clothing

PLEASE NOTE - Unfortunately we are unable to provide curbside assistance as there is a red zone in front of our building. Please do NOT stop in the red zone in front of our building. Instead, please park and bring your donations upstairs to our office on the second floor. We apologize for the inconvenience, but appreciate your help as we navigate the challenges of having an office in downtown San Francisco.

We do NOT accept walk-in appointments for dropping off donations.

  1. We ONLY accept donations during our monthly donation drives.

  2. An appointment is required for dropping off donations during our donation drives and a sign up link will be posted on our website approximately two weeks before the next donation drive.

  3. We do not accept walk in appointments for dropping off donations

  4. Please bring no more than TWO bags of items. Items must be clean and either on hangers, in a small box weighing under 30 pounds, or in shopping bags/reusable bags/etc. NO trash bags. If you have any questions about the clothing limit, please email clothingdonations@sfdress.org.

  5. Bring your donations to Suite 218 on the second floor of 500 Sutter. We are unable to offer curbside assistance.

  6. Clothing should be current and contemporary no more than 5 years old.

Items we DO accept:

  • Work appropriate suits

  • Work appropriate separates (blouses, sweaters, pants, blazers, dresses, etc.)

  • Work appropriate shoes (good condition, gently worn)

  • Handbags, briefcases and portfolios

  • Jewelry, including costume jewelry

  • Scarves and other accessories

  • Unopened toiletries and makeup (must be in original packaging)

Items that we DO NOT accept:

  • Menswear

  • Casual clothing (t-shirts, jeans, sweatshirts/hoodies, etc.)

  • Athletic or Leisure wear (yoga pants, tank tops, etc.)

  • Sneakers, sandals or casual shoes

  • Lingerie

  • Eveningwear
